Ordering and delivery
How does ordering work?
Create a free account, choose your size, seasoned or green, and whether you want it stacked, enter your address and post the order. A runner takes the job, contacts you, delivers the wood and takes a photo. You then pay the runner in person and rate the delivery. The Order page walks through it step by step.
Where do you deliver?
Silsbee (77656), Lumberton (77657), Buna (77612) and Evadale (77615), Texas. We are starting with these four towns. If your address is outside those ZIP codes the order form will not accept it.
How long does delivery take?
It depends on when a runner takes your order and what you agree with them. Once a runner accepts, they have 5 days to deliver or release the job. If nobody takes your order within 7 days it expires, and you can post it again. You can choose a preferred delivery date on the order form, and you can ask for a call before the runner comes.
We cannot promise same-day delivery, because runners are independent and take jobs when they can.
Do I have to be home?
Not unless you want to be. When you order, choose "No appointment" and the runner can unload where you describe in the notes, or choose "Call me first" to set a time. If you want the wood stacked, say where in the notes. Remember that payment happens in person, so if you are not home, arrange with the runner how you will pay.
Do you stack the wood?
Yes, as an option. Stacking costs a flat add-on that is listed in the price table. Tick "Stack it for me" on the order form and tell the runner where it should go. Without stacking, the wood is unloaded where you point.
Can I pick up wood instead?
No. This site is for delivery only. Runners bring the wood to you.
Can I cancel my order?
Yes. You can cancel from the My Orders page while the order is open or while a runner has it. Please cancel as early as you can, because a runner may already be on the way. Repeated late cancellations can lead to an account being suspended.
Wood and measurements
What is a cord of firewood?
A cord is a stack of wood that measures 4 feet high, 8 feet long and 4 feet deep, which is 128 cubic feet, with the pieces stacked neatly (not thrown in a pile). A half cord is 64 cubic feet, for example 4 × 8 × 2 feet. A quarter cord is 32 cubic feet, for example 4 × 8 × 1 feet.
What is a face cord, and do you sell them?
"Face cord", "rick" and "short cord" are informal terms that mean different things in different places. A face cord is usually a stack 4 feet high and 8 feet long, but only one piece deep, often about 16 inches, which makes it roughly one third of a full cord. We do not sell by face cord because the term has no single fixed size. We sell by true cord fractions so everyone is measuring the same thing.
What is the difference between seasoned and green firewood?
Seasoned wood has been cut and left to dry for at least six months, so it is ready to burn. Green wood is freshly cut and needs about 6–12 months of drying first. Seasoned is easier to light, burns hotter and smokes less. Green is cheaper and fine if you are stocking up for later.
What kind of wood will I get?
All orders are hardwood, split to about 16 inches. The exact species depends on what the runner has, and it is usually a mixed hardwood. On the order form you can say you would prefer oak, hickory or pecan, and the runner will tell you what they can provide. Pine and other softwoods are not part of our orders.
How can I check that I got a full amount?
Stack it (or ask the runner to) and measure. A full cord stacked is 4 × 8 × 4 feet, a half cord is 4 × 8 × 2 and a quarter cord is 4 × 8 × 1. Loose wood in a truck bed or pile looks bigger than it is, because of the gaps, so measure the stack instead of judging by eye. Runners are required to take a delivery photo, and a tape measure in the picture helps.
What if the load is short or the wood is not what I ordered?
Check it before you pay. Talk to the runner at the time of delivery and settle it there, for example by having them bring the rest or lower the price. After delivery, rate the order honestly: "short on wood", "not as described" and "late" are all options, and you can add a written comment. Ratings stay on the runner's public page, and runners with poor records can be flagged for review and suspended. You can also contact us about a problem.
Payment and safety
How do I pay?
You pay your runner directly, in person, when the wood is delivered. Cash is expected. The price you pay is the posted total shown when you order, and a runner is not allowed to charge more. This website never takes payment, so you will never enter a card number here.
Are there any extra fees?
No fees from us. The posted price includes delivery inside our four towns. The only add-on is optional stacking, which is shown before you order.
Are the runners background-checked?
No. Runners are independent local sellers whom we approve by hand after reviewing their application (truck, towns served and a short bio). New runners are limited to one job at a time until they have completed two deliveries. Their record is built from delivery photos and customer ratings, and you can see it on the Runners page. We can remove any runner at any time. You are never required to pay before wood is delivered.
Who can see my address and phone number?
Only the runner who takes your order, and only after they take it. Runners browsing open jobs see the town, size and price, not your name, address or phone. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Do I need an account?
Yes. A free account lets the runner reach you and lets you rate the delivery and see your order history. It takes about 30 seconds.
I forgot my password. What do I do?
Send us a message from the email address on your account and we will send you a reset link.
Becoming a runner
How do I become a runner?
Read the Become a Runner page, create an account and fill in the short application. We review each application by hand. Once approved, you can see open jobs in your towns and take them.
Does it cost anything to be a runner?
There is no sign-up fee and no per-order fee at this time. You keep the full posted price that the customer pays you in cash.
